Abstract

The history of humanity can be called the history of the wars we have fought against each other. At first glance, humans conflicting with other humans by using violence does not seem to be based on many reasons. Wars are fought for a few specific reasons. Almost all violent conflicts in history have stemmed from the failure to meet people's most basic needs. This situation remains the same today. In addition, the fact that humans are not satisfied with what they have and always aspire to more—especially as seen in modern societies—plays a dominant role at the root of violence. While real needs are forgotten, excessive demands far from being reasonable create insatiable actors. While moderation takes its place on dusty shelves, "always more" is encouraged. Moreover, this is done for the sake of development and enrichment. On this path, violence turns into an instrument of "possessing."
