Abstract

Africa and the Eastern Mediterranean are two areas that must be considered together due to their geographic intersections and strategic significance. The geopolitical position of these areas, along with their abundant energy resources, trade routes, and raw material reserves, has made them crucial on a global scale. Turkey’s historical ties with these regions, stemming from the Ottoman Empire, and the activities of various international actors in these areas directly impact Turkey. This study analyzes how Africa and Eastern Mediterranean shape Turkish foreign policy within the context of security. The analysis examines the strategic importance of these regions for Turkey and other international actors, addressing security issues, energy security, and economic security through the lens of various international security. The study concludes that Africa and Eastern Mediterranean are of paramount importance for Türkiye’s national security, and that Turkish foreign policy must be shaped by advanced strategies focused on these regions.
