The Current State and Future Perspectives in Real Estate Valuation Education in Turkey

Real estate appraisal is a systematic process to determine the value of an immovable property on a specific date. It involves analyzing both physical and economic characteristics, evaluating market conditions, and reporting the results. Proper valuation training is critical for ensuring accuracy and reliability in appraisal activities. Trained experts are better equipped to analyze the factors influencing real estate value and accurately assess market conditions. Furthermore, understanding and applying ethical rules and professional standards enhance the transparency and reliability of the valuation process.

This study aims to assess the current state of real estate appraisal education and its future trajectory, considering the evolving needs of the real estate sector. The historical development of the field was reviewed through literature research, and the activities of educational institutions in Turkey and abroad that provide real estate education were examined. The study discusses the definition, historical development, educational requirements, and international examples of the real estate appraisal process. It emphasizes that, in the future, the development of real estate appraisal education in Turkey and the number of programs in this field are expected to grow. It is also suggested that relevant vocational departments should be introduced into secondary education programs to meet the need for intermediate-level staff.
